On Sunday morning Bill read a poem he had written about his journey to faith ("testimony"). He was happy to share it with everyone online. It is called, "The Right Path"
How life did change from old to new When, Lord, I gave my life to You. My life-long quest – that endless search – Ended right here at Albert Road Church. Just before Christmas 2002 Came an invitation right out of the blue: Some carols were sung, nice people we met – Though reluctant to go, I had no regret! The family service became my next move; I needed to change: there was much to prove. Listening and learning, there was much that I heard; Reading the Bible and hearing God’s word. Next came Alpha, with discussion to face: We learned about Jesus – here in this place. The Pastor, the elders and helpers all strove To lead us to know of God and His love. The next step for us was the final phase For us to become Christians – for us to be saved. Then, on March the 14th 2004, In Baptism’s waters we came to the Lord. | That for us was a truly wonderful day, As we pledged to Jesus to walk in His way. At times it is hard to hold back the tears, When I think back on all of my wasted years. On Easter Sunday later that year, Our marriage was blessed – that also was here. With wonderful fellowship of friends that we meet, Thanks be to God: our lives are complete. Life from both ends of the Spectrum I’ve had; But for the right path I’ve chosen – I am so glad. People I meet say, “My, how you’ve changed!” And I think, “That for you could too be arranged!” These events that happened so late in the game Mean for me things will never again be the same. Jesus has called me, just as He’s called you, And I long to serve Him in all that I do. My testimonial has now reached its end. So, thank you, Lord Jesus, for being my Friend; I’m so glad that You came and gave me a call. And thank you for listening! God bless us all. |
